Sedona

We took a day trip to Sedona and it was our first adventure ever since moving into our house. I had a high school senior portrait in Sedona so we decided to make it a family day trip. The kids were excited, we packed snacks and even though it was only 2 hours for us to get there let’s just say that it took longer than expected. It was a 3 day weekend so a lot of people were leaving out of town to camp, head to cooler weather before going back to their normal schedule. When we finally arrived to Sedona the scenery was breathtaking. I have lived in Arizona my whole life and never been to Sedona. We absolutely loved it there. The scenery, the cooler weather and it was nice to stop and stretch our legs and explore.

We stopped at the first pullover spot to get out, stretch our legs and just explore. Can I just say the scenery at this spot was gorgeous. The view of the red rock mountains, and the greenery was just absolutely gorgeous. The kids loved this spot. It’s a very popular spot for sure and I can see why. We did move on to another spot that was just a mile up the road that was also another popular spot to be at and get pictures.

At first there was hardly anyone there than slowly people started to trickle in. We were able to enjoy the quiet for a good bit though, the kids being able to play, get dirty and just have fun. As soon as the sun started to go down I can see why so many people flock to this spot. The colors changing on the rock, seeing how the light hits it in just a certain way that they turn red but being able to watch the beauty of it all was definitely worth the drive. Seeing it in person and seeing it through a screen is very different. Actually traveling to see these beautiful locations there is something about it. You get lost in the beautiful scenery, the quiet, and watching how the light hits, listening to the sounds of nature that makes you never want to leave, but the urge to go explore rather than talk about it.

Red Rock is a beautiful place to go exploring, hike and enjoy the cooler weather. We loved it and definitely plan to go back and stay over night and go even further in to explore. We came home wiped out, exhausted but enjoyed every minute of it for sure. Looking forward to our next adventure…
